Rokko\u2019s summer.<br \/>\nAnd now, we present to you the history and charm of the Rokko Cable Car which has been running for approximately 9 decades.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Rokko Cable Shita Sta. sits nestled at the foot of Mt. Rokko in a retro cabin style building. This is the second installment of the station, the first having fallen to the Great Hanshin Flood in the 13th year of the Showa Period (1938). The distance between Rokko Cable Shita Sta. and Rokko Cable Sanjo Sta. is 1.7 km and the duration is about 10 minutes. The difference in elevation is approximately 493m.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">This is the 3<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">rd<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> generation cable car &#8211; running since the 11<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">th<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> year of the Heisei Period (1999).<br \/>\n<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">The ones taken on the way up this time were the <\/span>\u201c<span lang=\"EN-US\">#2 and #4 Retro Style Cars<\/span>\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\"> which were modeled after the former Hanshin Train Car Model 1 and the former Kobe City Tram. Unlike many parts elsewhere in the world, it operates with a connected boxcar on the upper side and a viewing car on the lower side.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/5.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Incidentally, the cars on the way down today were the legendary \u201c#1 and #3 Classic Style Cars\u201d with their attractive festive colors.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/6.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">And we<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">re off! This is the interior of the <\/span>\u201c<span lang=\"EN-US\">#2 Retro Style Car.<\/span>\u201d<span lang=\"EN-US\"> The seats in the upper car are made out of moquette (soft, velvety fabric). Furthermore, the carpeted floor lends to the calm, relaxed atmosphere.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/7.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The window next to the car operator<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">s booth at the very front of the upper car allows one to see a myriad of hydrangea flowers along the long and continuing path &#8211; sure to fill you with excitement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/8.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"600\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/9.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"1067\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">The lower car has seats and flooring made from natural wood. The very open atmosphere with no windows and a see-through roof will surely let you experience the lush nature of Mt. You will naturally begin to feel that you<\/span>\u2019<span lang=\"EN-US\">ve ascended Mt. When you\u2019re standing in this vintage space from the Showa Period, you may even feel as though you\u2019ve slipped back through time.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/kobe-rokko.jp\/en\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/07\/16.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"800\" height=\"533\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">Rokko Sanjo Sta. has maintained the same appearance all the way from its establishment back in the 7<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">th<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\"> year of the Showa Period (1932).
