History

Origin and History of the name of Mt. Kincho

Mt. Kincho

Hokura Shrine is located at the top of Mt. Hokura, halfway up Mt. Kincho in East Rokko, and enshrines the deities Susano no kami, Ohotoshimioya no kami, Ohokuninushi no Mikoto, and Shiinetsuhiko no Mikoto. Yayoi earthenware from before the common era was excavated from the precincts of the shrine, and an Iwakura rock (in which a deity dwells) and an Iwasaka rock mirror which were used for ancient rituals still remain. The Hokura Plum Grove is at its best from the end of February to the beginning of March.

To improve the lives of the villagers, firepower was promoted, and a bonfire was lit at the shrine to ensure the safety of maritime traffic.
