Route No.1
Origin and History of the name of Taishi Road
Taishi Road is an ancient path that flourished as a pilgrimage route to Tairyuji Temple and has an important history as Kobo Daishi once walked on it. The mountain path that Taishi climbed became known as Taishi Road.
Mt. Futatabi was given its name since Kobo Daishi visited Tairyuji Temple twice; once before he went to China and once after he came back.
It is also the birthplace of daily mountain climbing (which Kobe is known for), and the names of people who climbed the mountain every day for 10,000 times is engraved on a stone pagoda to commemorate their efforts.

The birthplace of daily mountain climbing
In Kobe, there is a custom of daily mountain climbing that has continued since the Meiji period. The locals value climbing low mountains close to home for health purposes, rather than intense mountain climbing.
