Sun and Greenery Road

The nature trail Sun and Greenery Road were established in 1972 to allow visitors to take a casual stroll through Kobe's abundant nature and to promote interaction between people and nature.
It is a hiking route from Mt. Rokko to Mt. Tanjo, Mt. Taishaku, and Mt. Mekko, passing through mostly sunny and greenery-rich areas in Kita and Nishi wards, with a current total length of about 165km.

Hakogi Sennenya

Hakogi Sennenya

The oldest existing private house in Japan, designated as a National Important Cultural Property. The texture of wood hewn with a hatchet still remains on the floor and door panels. The 8-meter-high gabled roof and massive thatched roof are a sight to behold. This is a spot where visitors can feel the history!

Rokujo Hachimangu Shrine

There is a three-story pagoda located on the grounds of Rokujo Hachimangu Shrine. It is a nationally designated important cultural property that conveys the appearance of the combination of Shintoism and Buddhism to the present day.

Koyasan Mudoji Temple

Koyasan Mudoji Temple

Mudoji Temple belongs to the Koyasan Shingon sect, whose mountain name is Wakaozan.
The main hall of the temple houses a seated statue of the Dainichi Nyorai Buddha, five Buddhist statues designated as National Important Cultural Properties, and one Prefectural Important Cultural Property. Designated as a cultural environment preservation zone by Kobe City, Mudoji Temple is surrounded by abundant nature, and visitors can enjoy the four seasons with fresh greenery in spring and autumnal foliage in fall.

Wakaoji Shrine

Wakaoji Shrine

A short walk from the main hall leads to Wakaoji Shrine, the guardian hall shrine of Mudoji Temple. It is designated as a National Important Cultural Property.
Built-in the sangensha nagare-zukuri style (three-bay wide structure with a gable roof), it is rare that the shrine’s hard-shingle roofing is still in place.
The Sun and Greenery Road continues eastward from Mudoji Temple to Seidoji Temple.
