Origin and History of the name of Mt. Togao・Mt. Yokoo・Mt. Higashi
Suma Alps, the westernmost mountain range of the Rokko traverse, is famous as the scenic spot in the Rokko mountain range.
Mt. Rokko is made of granite. En route, the horseback-shaped granite stone “Umanose” shows its strong presence, boosting hikers’ moods. The highest mountain in the Suma Alps is Mt. Yokoo at 312 meters.

Stairs
The view of the town of Takakuradai, which visitors pass on the climbing route, changes dramatically. Climb the 400 steps to the top of Mt. Togao.
There are rest stops on the way up the stairs, so visitors can pace themselves.

Observation deck
On the top of Mt. Togao is a wooden observation deck. The viewpoint overlooks the Akashi Strait on the right and the city of Kobe to Osaka Bay on the left.
Scenic spot Umanose
After passing Mt. Yokoo, one finally approaches the core of the Suma Alps, Umanose.
The weathered granite ridge is impressive! It is narrow in some parts, so be careful. When passing other hikers, please be safe and give way to each other. It becomes slippery when it rains, so beginners should avoid rainy days.
Mt. Higashi summit
The summit of Mt. Higashi is located behind a thicket of trees, making it easy to miss.
