Route No.3
Origin and History of the name of Ueno Road
This is the main approach to the former Mayasan Tenjoji temple located on the west side of the Maya cable ridge. It used to be a popular place visited by many people including visitors to Tenjoji Temple, bustling with restaurants and lodging facilities. Today, the remains of the former Tenjoji Temple which was destroyed by a fire, a salon from the Taisho Period, and lodging facilities from the early Showa Period are preserved as the Kobe Maya Ruins, allowing visitors to imagine the faith and lifestyle of the people in the past.
