ROKKOSAN SILENCE RESORT (Next to the bus stop “ROKKOSAN SILENCE RESORT Mae”)【Arrival】

This facility used to be Rokkosan Hotel, which was one of the longest established hotels in the area. It opened in 1929 and closed in 2017. ROKKOSAN SILENCE RESORT was newly opened in 2019 and took over Rokkosan Hotel’s business including its great history.

Trivia!

Rokkosan Hotel was designated as “Heritage of Industrial Modernization” in 2007.

The BBQ lunch at the RESORT is highly suggested! Under the blue sky with a marvelous view from the terrace seats, relish Kobe’s local meat, fresh seafood from the Seto Inland Sea, seasonal vegetables, and more!

The open-air dining terrace (3 sections) would be the best choice to enjoy both great food and a wonderful view of Kobe and Awaji Island at once.

If you would like to sit back and relax in a laid-back atmosphere, the CAFETERIA is a great option. Pick your favorite from their menu lineup! As the to-go menu is also available, you can enjoy your food in their beautiful garden.

Rokko Alpine Botanical Garden (Edelweiss café)【Arrival】 (Right next to the Botanical Garden bus stop)

This time, go into the garden from the east gate and feel the natural botanical aura! The seasonal plants will surely soothe your mind.

Under the Mt. Rokko’s environment (Altitude: 931.6 m), in order to grow a variety of alpine plants in this botanical garden beautifully and properly, the landscape gardening technique of using rocks has been applied.

A mountain hut style café “Edelweiss” is located at the east gate of the garden. Just feel free to swing by and unwind for a while over a cup of tea and sweets.

The entire atmosphere inside the café with lodge-like décor is so relaxing. Also, the terrace seats are popular among locals as well as tourists.

Rokko Forest Sound Museum was just newly reborn in July, 2021 after an extensive renovation.

Tip!

One of the biggest mechanical organs the Decap Dance Organ "De Kempenaer" is placed in the front of the concert room.

Take delight in the sound of nature and the music boxes while strolling around the natural green garden.

Rokko Garden Terrace is an entertainment plaza consists of multiple observatories, restaurants, shops, and more. It would be great if you spend some time eating delectable food, buying local souvenirs, and enjoying Kobe’s amazing view from the observatories.

Granite Cafe

Granite Cafe is a locals’ favorite restaurant, especially because it’s very popular among friends and couples. Their signature cheese fondue is a must-try item. At dusk, savoring their specialty meal with Kobe’s romantic townscape and sea view from the mountaintop is absolutely unrivaled.

Granite is a light-colored igneous rock. It is commonly used as a material for buildings, sculptures, etc. Mt. Rokko is mainly composed of granite rocks called Rokko granite.
