Coffee, Scones, and Respite from the Day-to-Day Bustle
Re-encounter, a boathouse-like establishment on the edge of Shiogahara Pond, is a hidden getaway that soothes visitors with seasonal scenes reflected on the water's surface.
One popular item on the menu is scones baked by the owner in homage to those he enjoyed at the Diamond Head Market & Grill in Hawaii (he’s a trail running expert and has completed the Honolulu Marathon more than ten times). The scones are fluffy, moist, mild in flavor, and served warm. There are eight varieties to choose from, including perennial favorites blueberry and cream cheese and sweet azuki bean butter paste, as well as crispy bacon and blue cheese, and orange peel. Why not try the handy scone and Fair Trade coffee set? Naturally, take-out is available if you’re on the go.
Upstairs, you can see and rent hiking shoes, trail running shoes, and barefoot shoes from MERRELL, a leading outdoor footwear brand. Why not stop in for a fitting?
