Rice Balls for Lunch with a Few Drinks; Live Music & Jam Sessions!
KOKOMEME by day and Katakamna at night, this quirky establishment is nestled under the raised Hankyu Railway tracks near Oji Koen Stn. KOKOMEME serves delicious handmade rice balls for lunch to enjoy with a few daytime drinks, before transforming into Katakamna at night, a venue for live performances and jam sessions featuring pro and amateur musicians and DJs from all genres.
Behind the bar, sake, shochu, and whiskey line the shelves—they even have absinthe, the “green fairy” once forbidden in many places.
The interior is decked out with a variety of charming Asian knick-knacks, so there’s always something to catch your eye.
With a different face in the daytime and nighttime, this curious establishment is just the place for a quick bite after a morning hike and to relax to some good music at night.

KOKOMEME’s rice ball set includes two rice balls with a choice of eight fillings, from classics to daily inspirations, as well as two small side dishes, salad, miso soup, and pickles—all for just ¥900! The homemade dried whitebait with sansho pepper and the scallions in miso rice ball fillings that frequently appear on the menu are wildly popular. If they’re available when you’re there, be sure to give them a try! Importantly, the rice balls are not pre-wrapped; the nori seaweed is served separately to ensure you get to enjoy the crunch.
