①Frozen Waterfalls (Somatanimichi)

Somatanimichi is part of the Tokugawa road, which was constructed as a bypass road leading from the mountains to the Okuradani Valley in Akashi at the end of the Edo period to avoid conflicts with foreigners. It is also known as the Cascade Valley as the road passes through a valley with successive cascades.

Established as Gokoku Shrine in 1941 and cherished by the local people.
The shrine enshrines the war dead associated with the eastern part of Hyogo Prefecture (Tamba, Settsu, Awaji).

Located just before Somatani Pass, Kanjintaki Falls can freeze under the right weather conditions. Since Somatanimichi has few steep sections, it is easy for beginners to climb. If going to see frozen waterfalls for the first time, Somatanimichi is recommended.
