Sights and Landmarks
Snowscape
Despite being in Kobe, where snow is not common, Mt. Rokko often receives snowfall as winter progresses. It's important to plan ahead by wearing clothing that allows for temperature regulation and preparing for slippery conditions underfoot during snow or rain, such as with the use of crampons.
Hoarfrost
One of the attractions of winter in the mountains is the sight of trees covered in hoarfrost. When conditions such as temperature and humidity are just right, you can encounter the beautiful crystalline hoarfrost.
Sea of Clouds
A sea of clouds can be observed when conditions such as a temperature difference of about 10°C or more between the previous day's daytime and the next morning, along with clear skies and calm winds, are met. The sea of clouds seen from Tenrandai on days when weather conditions are optimal is truly spectacular.
Mt. Rokko Summit Restroom
A public restroom and rest area built in 2020 on the summit of Mt. Rokko. The roof, designed to resemble the mountain ridgeline, serves the function of collecting rainwater. Rainwater is used for handwashing, and a circulating system employing soil microorganisms is used for purifying wash water for reuse.
